Can you rise above the clouds?
Mother Nature raged a lightning storm upon us as we sat on the tarmac at Newark International Airport. We were excited to be returning home after the heartfelt completion of a highly anticipated, long overdue family reunion weekend. But, She was intent on performing her entire show, complete with several standing ovations. Planes weren’t allowed to land, we weren’t allowed to taxi back to the gate OR take off, it was a Limbo of sorts. Nowadays, being stuck on a plane for hours means nothing more than some cookies being tossed to us as they walked down the aisle, as if we were children needing to be appeased. Finally, when the “show” paused enough to allow a few of the planes in & out, we cheered as our plane took flight, tossing a bit until we rose above the clouds to witness beautiful blue skies with sun brilliantly shining upon us. Quite a metaphor for us in our lives sometimes, don’t you think? If we are able to rise above/step away from a heated situation, it can be so much easier to appreciate any situation from that observer perspective……VERY grateful to have landed safely in Los Angeles after 9 hours on that plane from N.J.
